Is your property built of standard construction?

Standard construction means brick, stone or concrete walls, slate or tile roof and no greater than 33% flat roof.

Is the property fitted with five-lever mortice deadlocks on all external doors, and key-operated window locks on all ground-level windows and accessible upper floor windows?
The main access door should be fitted with a mortice deadlock of at least five levers or a rim deadlock. Either should conform to the British Standard BS 3621.

If the door is of Aluminium/UPVC construction then it must be fitted with a multi-point locking system which incorporates a lever or cylinder deadlock, capable of being secured by a key from both sides.

All windows, fanlights and roof lights that can be accessed without the use of a ladder, and that can be opened, should be fitted with key-operated window locks.

Include the total replacement cost of everything inside your home excluding permanent fixtures and fittings, plumbing etc. - these should be insured under the buildings section.

If the sum insured is underestimated, this could affect any future claim settlement.

Would you like accidental damage cover?

Our Contents cover provides an element of accidental damage protection as standard for Audio & visual equipment, DVD & video players or recorders, televisions, fixed glass in furniture and personal computers.You can increase this to full accidental damage to cover the other accidents such as dropping paint on your carpet or the grandchildren breaking ornaments for example.

Would you like cover for personal belongings away from the home?

Please note this section provides cover up to a total value of £5000, where no individual item is over £1500.

Personal belongings are items normally worn or carried by you or your family in daily life.

4. Buildings Cover
