Is your property built of standard construction?

Standard construction means brick, stone or concrete walls, slate or tile roof and no greater than 33% flat roof.

Is your property a listed building?
Is the property fitted with five-lever mortice deadlocks on all external doors, and key-operated window locks on all ground-level windows and accessible upper floor windows?
The main access door should be fitted with a mortice deadlock of at least five levers or a rim deadlock. Either should conform to the British Standard BS 3621.

If the door is of Aluminium/UPVC construction then it must be fitted with a multi-point locking system which incorporates a lever or cylinder deadlock, capable of being secured by a key from both sides.

All windows, fanlights and roof lights that can be accessed without the use of a ladder, and that can be opened, should be fitted with key-operated window locks.

The intruder alarm in your home must be approved, inspected and serviced annually through a service contract with an approved organisation such as the National Approval Council of Security Systems (NACOSS), SSIAB, or NSI.

Include the total replacement cost of everything inside your home excluding permanent fixtures and fittings, plumbing etc. - these should be insured under the buildings section.

If the sum insured is underestimated, this could affect any future claim settlement.

Would you like enhanced accidental damage cover?

Our contents cover provides accidental damage protection as standard for items such as tablets, computers, laptops and televisions.

For an additional premium you can cover the contents for other forms of accidental damage such as spilling red wine on the carpet or knocking a vase off a shelf.

Please note this section provides cover up to a total value of £5000, where no individual item is over £1500.

Personal belongings are items normally worn or carried by you or your family in daily life.
